Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma was enrolled in the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she would like to become an actress and for several years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. When she was ten, she performed as well as taken the role of lead in a number of Stagecoach performances and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) is the film remake to J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel premiered for the first second time back in 1999. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been selected for the roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first film role was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the most popular film of 2001. The opening Saturday and Sunday the sales were unbeatable. Many critics have praised the film and the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and received five awards in the film.
